As part of the firm’s overall approach to design we also ensure success through some very pragmatic yet effective strategies. Safety, accessibility, security and sustainability are foremost in the considerations of site layout, pedestrian access, lighting, emergency vehicle access, detailed design and decisions that affect ongoing maintenance. Projects are designed fully barrier-free, and in accordance municipal guidelines. In addition, our design team has completed the requirements for conformance with the AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act).
Beyond the functional requirements, Basterfield & Associates will bring award-winning design skills to any project. Our firm received the award of Regional Honour from the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects for the design of The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources Head Office in the City of Peterborough, and National Honour in the category of Design for the Otonabee River Trail downtown riverfront development project, also in Peterborough, Ontario. Each project receives a unique response from us as circumstances influencing the development of design unfold over time. Our work is based on knowledge and experience, and is conducted with flexibility.
